How Afflictions Work
Afflictions are negative modifiers that enemies can apply to your cards during combat. These debuffs can fundamentally change how your deck functions.
Example Affliction
Imagine an Affliction that causes affected cards to lose 1 Energy when played — effectively increasing their cost by 1. You might work around it by playing the affected card last in your turn, using cards that generate Energy, or removing the Affliction through other means.
Duration
Based on current information, strong Afflictions appear to be temporary (reverting after combat), but permanent or long-term Afflictions may also exist.
Which Enemies Cause Afflictions?
Specific enemy details are still emerging, but evidence suggests:
- •High-HP enemies (200+ HP) are likely candidates
- •Boss and Elite fights may be the primary source
- •The mechanic adds another layer of decision-making to these encounters
